Our Location

The perfect spot for a visit to Malta that is ideally located to explore Malta’s vibrant restaurant scene, nightlife or to experience it’s rich culture and history. Walk along Malta’s iconic 5 km boardwalk by the sea which is only minutes from our hotel. We are in close walking distance to some of Malta’s top destinations, shopping and business centres. Why not walk down for a swim in the deep blue Mediterranean Sea after a day of adventure or work. We are situated in a peaceful location on a quiet street in St Julian’s ‘Urban Conservation Area’, which is a protected area in order to retain the Maltese built heritage. The history of our building, and the origin of our name, is that we used to be 3 fishermen’s tenements (homes). We have tried to keep true to our beautiful Maltese heritage with a modern twist.

Weather

View the weather and temperature averages for Malta on this page. The Three Doors is equipped with double-glazing windows and air conditioning / heating to ensure our guests’ comfort in all seasons. In summer the temperatures vary between the mid 20’s and high 30’s. There is usually a sea breeze, however late summer the weather can become more humid and muggy. The shoulder seasons (spring and autumn) are wonderful, the temperatures rangein the 20’s, there is still lots of sunshine, however with some rain the island becomes green again. You can catch a swim in the sea well into December with the sea temperatures staying warm throughout Autumn. Winter is also wonderful with cooler days (temperatures range between 10 and 20 degrees) - days are mild and mostly dry so a wonderful place to escape to during the dreary winter months. Hiking is a great pastime in winter with the fields green and full of wildflowers. Malta enjoys around 3,000 hours of sunshine per year ( one of the highest in Europe), from an average of above 5 hours of sunshine per day in December to an average of above 12 hours of sunshine per day in July. Thus, Malta enjoys about twice the amount of sunshine as cities in the northern half of Europe

Some of our own favourite restaurants are literally a few steps away from you, certainly within walking distance.

If you feel like a relaxed casual meal on one of the loveliest terraces on the Maltese Islands, then try Cafe Cuba just down the road. For a special occasion try Zest in Spinola or Zeri’s for some wonderful seafood. For drinks head down to The Thirsty Barber or, interested in high end Latin American food Hammett’s Mestizo rocks. Best ice cream: no doubt in my mind, Rivareno, with a great selection of ice creams, sicilian granitas and a good selection of dairy free and vegan options. There is great fast food jsut around the corner from Zen Sushi, to Wok to Wok.  There’s essentially any type of cuisine you’d like within a stone’s throw away from our location... Asian / Sushi at Kuya Asian Pub, Greek at Mannakis. Gululu offers upscale Maltese fare just down the road in Spinola. If you’re going to the movies at Bay Street, drop by Hugo’s Burger for a quick upscale burger and fries, or The Avenue Restaurant for a nice family dinner with good grub to boot!
