Our Story

We are a beautiful 13 room boutique hotel located in the heart of Malta. We believe that experience matters, in both the big things as well as small.

At The Three Doors, we believe that your travel experience should be more than just a place to sleep. Whether you are travelling for work and need to stay longer or are on a short break away - we want to make your stay memorable and provide you with the services that you need.

We have combined high end modern design and lighting within a classical Maltese setting, in one of the best locations on the island.  We are in the heart of Malta’s entertainment and business centre, just metres from the sea, yet located on a quiet street. We are a modern fully digital hotel, yet balanced with Maltese charm and tradition.

We have travelled the globe and have lived and worked in several countries, experiencing and enjoying many different cultures. We have a passion for excellence, an eye for detail and a love for people, adventure and life’s journey.

The idea behind The Three Doors was born several years ago during our many business and personal travels. We thought: why are all hotel rooms just about a bed - why can’t they be a more comfortable living space for the time that you’re in them? So that’s what we have tried to recreate. We are delighted to make our dream a reality, and to welcome you as our guests. We are The Three Doors.

Our Location

Location The Three Doors is located in what used to be three turn-of-the-century fishermen’s tenements in the then old fishing village of St. Julians. These building facades are protected as part of the Urban Conservation Area of the village and our hotel is right in the heart of the old street just up from Spinola bay.

St. Julians however has now been transformed into the urban heart of Malta’s business and entertainment district. Our location is ideally situated on a quiet street, just a three minute walk from beautiful Spinola Bay filled with Maltese charm; and a ten-minute walk from Bay Street, one of the key business and entertainment districts on the island.

Walk along the iconic 5km seaside promenade which is only steps away, drop into the many shops or restaurants which are all close by,  or enjoy a dip in the sea; you have lots of options to choose from.

Why Malta and Why Us ?

The perfect base for a short get-away or an extended stay in the heart of Malta. The Three Doors is ideally situated to explore Malta’s rich history, culture, and gastronomy and to attend one of the many cultural events or to simply relax and enjoy the wonderful Mediterranean lifestyle.

Malta is special at all times of the year - summer offers sun, sea, long evenings and lots of festivities. Winter offers cultural events, long walks by the sea, green countryside and a quieter beat. The shoulder seasons are also magical as the weather is not so hot (in the mid 20s)  and the sea is still swimmable well into December.  There is always something going on and lots to do all year round.

Our Hotel and the Environment

We thought long and hard about some of the sustainability decisions we could make that would reduce our impact on the planet. And, difficult as it was, we made some decisions that may be a little inconvenient but are, ultimately, better for the planet.

First, we decided that we would try to eliminate all plastic from the hotel. Easier said than done. However, there are no plastic cups in your room, and no little sachets of shampoo and body wash. We have real glasses, mugs and cutlery. Please respect the fact that these are not disposable and expensive to maintain.

We have water filtration and re-useable water bottles for the rooms, so you will have access to water, coffee's and tea at anytime without generating more plastic waste.

Bedding and towel laundry leads to significant energy and water consumption. A typical room with 4 kg of laundry will require up to 60 litres of water. We have made the decision to only change sheets and towels during a stay when our guests are staying for over three nights. You can always ask us to change your sheets if you advise us in the morning before 1100 and we would be happy to do so. We do find, however, that most of our guests are comfortable with this policy and appreciate the environmental impact of this decision.
